Issaquah, Washington is a city whose heyday was in the coal mining industry. In 1888 the Seattle, Lake Shore and Eastern Railway arrived and started hauling tons of coal to the Seattle market. The city became a major hub for the transportation of goods and people. When the railroad was shut down in the late 1940s the depot was converted to storage space and was bought by the city.
