Why training in twenty levels beats cramming a weekend
The 20-Level Curriculum is the backbone of every program at Beauty Angels Academy USA, and it exists because skill in permanent makeup is built in order, not crammed into a weekend. Amanda Banks designed it from the way she actually learned to work on tens of thousands of clients. She is an International Grand Master Permanent Makeup Trainer and a former AAM Board Member, she has personally performed and supervised over 10,000 treatments, and she has trained artists across 100+ countries, so the curriculum reflects how a real career is built, level by level. I always joke that 95 out of 100 training programs will fail you, and one reason is that they collapse a whole craft into one to three days and call it done.
The curriculum moves an artist from the foundations through to grandmaster-level technique. Early levels build skin theory, color theory, sanitation, and stroke fundamentals. Middle levels build the core techniques of the Banks Method, microblading, powder, and combination work, on real skin with feedback. Higher levels build the judgment to read any skin, design from the face’s own symmetry, and correct work that healed wrong. Each level earns the next, so you always know where you are and what comes after.
You do not become a grandmaster in a weekend. You build it one level at a time, on real skin, with honest feedback, until the judgment is your own.

The progression of the 20-Level Curriculum
The 20-Level Curriculum is taught in four stages, each building on the one before. Here is how an artist moves from the first stroke toward grandmaster-level technique.

Foundations
The early levels build the ground every artist stands on: skin theory, color theory, sanitation, and stroke fundamentals. You learn how skin behaves, how pigment lives in it, and how to work safely, before you ever touch a client. These levels are where the Banks Method begins.

Core technique on real skin
The middle levels move you onto real skin with the core techniques of the Banks Method, starting with microblading hair strokes and building toward powder and combination work. Each technique is practiced with feedback until your results heal natural and consistent, not just once but reliably.

Advanced judgment
The higher levels build the judgment that separates a grandmaster from a technician: reading any skin type and adjusting, designing a shape from the face’s own symmetry, choosing color and depth for how a result ages, and correcting work that healed wrong. This is where technique becomes artistry.
