Lip blushing at Eastside Microblading & Beauty is a cosmetic tattoo that deposits sheer, buildable pigment into the lips to enhance their natural color, define the shape, and even out tone. It is not lipstick and it is not lip filler. It adds color and definition, not volume. The goal at both studios is a healed result that reads as your lips on their best day, the kind of soft flush you would notice on someone and assume they were born with it. Amanda Banks has refined this across 10,000+ treatments, and the technique that performs your lips is the technique she trains every artist on.
The part most studios skip is color theory. Lip blushing is not one shade applied to every client. The artist reads your skin undertone and the existing tone of your lips, then chooses a pigment that will heal true rather than turning ashy or too cool. Where natural lips carry dark, blue, or purple undertones, that correction happens first through lip neutralization, before blushing color is built. We are not a one-time transaction here. This is a lifetime relationship, and lips that age beautifully start with the right color decision on day one.

The Eastside Process for Lip Blushing
Lip blushing at Eastside Microblading & Beauty is a two-visit service: the initial session and a perfecting touch-up. Here is how the studio performs it, step by step.

The pre-visit suitability review
You can book online or request a personal recommendation. The studio screens for medical contraindications and, importantly, any history of cold sores, so a doctor-prescribed antiviral can be arranged before your appointment. Your goals, natural lip tone, and whether you need neutralization before color are all discussed before treatment.

Color mapping and shape approval
At your appointment, the artist studies your skin undertone and natural lip color, then maps the shape and selects a pigment that will heal true on your skin. If your lips carry dark or cool undertones, the plan includes neutralization first. You approve the shade and the shape before any pigment is placed.

Numbing
A topical numbing cream is applied to the lips and given time to take effect. Most clients describe the sensation during the service as light scratching rather than pain. There are no injectables.

Pigment application
The artist builds color into the lips in light, even passes, shaping the border and filling the body of the lip. Color always looks brighter and bolder during the appointment than it will once healed. Pigments used at the studio pass European safety standards.

Aftercare and antiviral plan
The artist walks you through the day-by-day healing timeline, your aftercare, lip balm, sun protection, and your antiviral schedule where needed. You leave knowing exactly what each day will look like, including the frosty day-five stage that scares people who were not warned about it.

Perfecting touch-up at 6 to 8 weeks
Lips almost always need a second session to perfect saturation and even out any spots that healed light. This perfecting touch-up at 6 to 8 weeks is part of how the service is designed. It is scheduled and charged separately. It is where the artist fine-tunes the color now that the first pass has settled.

Why your lips look too dark on day two and perfect by week six
The single most common worry with lip blushing is the first 48 hours. Right after the appointment, lips look bright, full, and far more saturated than you expected. This is normal, and it is the part no discount studio explains. Color peaks in the first day or two, then softens as the lips heal.
Here is the honest day-by-day. Days 1 to 2: bold color, some swelling, tenderness. Days 3 to 4: the lips begin to peel from the center outward and may feel tight or itchy, and you do not pick. Days 5 to 7: the surface has healed and the color looks much lighter, sometimes almost gone, and this frosty, faded stage scares people who were not warned about it. It is supposed to happen. Weeks 2 to 6: the true color blooms back as the deeper layers settle. What you see at six weeks is your real result, and it is usually 30 to 50 percent softer than day one.

How long does lip blushing last?+
Lip blushing lasts 1 to 3 years for most clients, and longer with periodic refreshes. Lips fade faster than brows because of constant movement, eating, and sun exposure. Eastside Microblading & Beauty recommends a refresh every 1 to 2 years to keep color looking fresh. Your exact timeline depends on your skin, your lip tone, your sun exposure, and your lifestyle.
Is lip blushing a one-visit or two-visit service?+
Lip blushing is a two-visit service. The initial session builds the color and shape, and a perfecting touch-up at 6 to 8 weeks evens out saturation and fine-tunes the color once the first pass has healed. Lips are unpredictable healers, and the second visit is part of how the service is designed. The 6-to-8-week touch-up is scheduled and charged separately.
Does lip blushing hurt?+

I get cold sores. What do I need to do before lip blushing?+
If you have ever had a cold sore, you need a short course of a doctor-prescribed antiviral such as valacyclovir or acyclovir, typically starting a couple of days before your appointment and continuing a few days after. The micro-wounds from lip blushing can reactivate the dormant virus during healing. The studio screens for this during your suitability review and tells you exactly what to arrange.
Can I get lip blushing over an old lip tattoo from another artist?+
Often, yes, but it is case by case. Send photos of the existing work before your visit. Older lip tattoos that healed too cool or patchy may need lip neutralization or color correction first. Eastside Microblading & Beauty will tell you honestly what is possible, and how many sessions it is likely to take, during your suitability review. We will not band-aid a bad result.
How much does lip blushing cost, and how are touch-ups handled?+
Pricing is confirmed during your suitability review call and varies by location. Your initial price covers the color consultation, the first application, and your aftercare and antiviral guidance. The 6-to-8-week perfecting touch-up and later refreshes are scheduled and charged separately. The studio does not run discount lip work.
