Nano soft shading at Eastside Microblading & Beauty is the studio’s softer take on the powder method, a eyebrow technique that builds a whisper-soft, misty layer of pigment into the upper layer of the skin using a digital machine. Where standard powder brows can give a more defined, filled-in makeup finish, nano soft shading is dialed back, lighter, airier, and more diffused, so it reads as the kind of soft, lived-in brow most clients picture when they think of a natural microblading result. The difference is in the longevity. You get that natural look with the staying power of powder.
This technique exists because of a question clients ask us constantly. They love how natural and hair-like microblading looks, but their skin is oily, or mature, or they do not want to come back as often as hair strokes require, and they worry powder will look too made-up. Nano soft shading is the answer in the middle. The soft, machine-built shading holds on oily and mature skin the way powder does, lasting 2 to 3 years for most clients, while the lighter saturation keeps it looking soft and natural rather than like a filled-in brow. It heals soft, customized to your face shape, your skin tone, and how the pigment will age on your skin over time.

The pre-visit suitability review
You can book online or request a personal recommendation. The studio screens for medical contraindications (pregnancy, breastfeeding, autoimmune conditions, recent medications, skin conditions, prior PMU work), discusses the soft, natural finish you want, and confirms whether nano soft shading is the right fit for your skin and your goals. If a crisper hair-stroke look or a more defined powder fill suits you better, the team will say so.

Skin assessment and numbing
At your appointment, the artist evaluates your skin type, oil level, brow density, and any prior PMU work. This is what confirms soft shading is the right call for the look and longevity you want. Topical 4% lidocaine is applied, with no injectables. Numbing takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

Mapping and shape approval
Using symmetry software, your bone structure, and the ratios of your face, the artist draws your ideal brow shape with a pencil. You review and adjust the shape together, including how soft and diffused you want the finish, until it is exactly what you want. No pigment goes in until you approve the shape.

Pigment selection
The artist selects pigment colors that blend with your natural brow color, your skin tone, and the way the pigment will fade over time, choosing a saturation light enough to keep the result soft. All pigments at Eastside Microblading & Beauty pass European safety standards. The selection is reviewed with you before application.

Soft shading application
Using a digital machine, the artist layers fine, lightly saturated dots of pigment to build the misty, diffused finish you approved. The density is kept deliberately soft and checked against your face throughout, so the result stays airy and natural rather than filled-in. Most clients rate the discomfort 2 to 3 out of 10. Many fall asleep during the appointment.

Post-treatment walkthrough
The artist walks you through your healing kit, aftercare instructions, and what to expect at each healing stage, including how soft shading looks a little stronger for the first several days and settles into its soft finish as it heals.

Touch-up at 6 to 8 weeks
A perfecting touch-up 6 to 8 weeks after the initial session refines the saturation and any areas that healed lighter than expected, keeping the finish even and soft. A 6-to-8-week touch-up is not included in the treatment price.

When you walk into Eastside, the first thing that you’ll notice is how calm it feels. The lighting, the scent, everything is designed to help you feel at ease. And we start every permanent makeup appointment with a very detailed consultation. We use symmetry software, your bone structure, and the ratios of your face to show you your ideal shape first. And we draw that with a pencil. Then we work closely together as a team to really fine-tune and make sure that it’s really you. And it’s one of our favorite parts: when we see and show you your ideal shape and you get that exciting feeling, like it’s you again. That’s when we start.
Next, we choose your pigment. And we are experts at selecting a color and a tone that blends with your natural brows, your skin tone, and how it’s going to age over time. And that’s the part that most people unfortunately don’t think about. But we do. And that is really where experience in permanent makeup comes into play.
The treatment itself is very gentle with our technique. And most clients, believe it or not, they rate the discomfort level of a treatment a two or a three out of ten. We use a topical numbing cream, but honestly, most of our clients fall asleep. Our technique is that gentle. The entire appointment takes about three hours, and we block out that time for you so that nothing feels rushed. We really enjoy it, and you deserve that. This is a prominent treatment on your face. It’s not a quick appointment.
And when we’re done, we’re going to walk you through everything: your healing timeline, your aftercare kit, and what to expect over the next few weeks. And it’s pretty easy. And then comes the best part. There comes this moment once you’ve healed, and you get out of the shower in the morning, and you look in the mirror the first time, and you feel like yourself again, but elevated. And you don’t feel obligated to put makeup on walking out the door. And that’s why we do this.

Who performs nano soft shading at Eastside?+

Every artist is trained to the same Eastside Standard before working on clients, and keeping the saturation light enough to stay soft while it still holds for years takes the kind of control that only comes from doing the work thousands of times. There is no junior tier.
Can I get nano soft shading if I have prior PMU work or am pregnant?+
It depends. The studio asks for photos of any prior PMU work before booking and will tell you honestly whether soft shading over it is possible, whether removal is needed first, or whether a different brow service fits better. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, recent medications, and certain autoimmune or skin conditions affect timing and candidacy. All of this is screened on your pre-visit suitability review.
